26. August Anticipation

Welcome to the new season of EdYouWell! As we kick off this exciting new school year, we’re feeling that familiar August anticipation and eager to dive into what’s ahead.

Introducing the Season: Join Chelsea and Alix as we explore the annual cycle of a teacher, starting with the stage of Anticipation. We’ll review the five stages of this cycle—Anticipation, Survival, Disillusionment, Rejuvenation, and Reflection—and how they guide our journey through the school year.

☑️What to Expect: August Anticipation

1. The 3-2-1 Method: We’ll use a 3-2-1 method to help you prepare for the year ahead:

 2.  Three Things to Consider: Reflect on past challenges and identify when and where you struggled, think about who you can turn to for support, and define your personal and professional non-negotiables.

 3. Two Goals: Set two goals that align with both your personal and professional life. We’ll discuss how these goals can help you stay focused and balanced throughout the year.

  4. One Question: Reflect on the question, “What will you do this year to be well so that you can do well?” We’ll delve into the importance of prioritizing self-care and creating routines that support your well-being.

💧Well Wishes: As you embark on this new school year, remember that each beginning is an opportunity for growth and renewal. It’s normal to feel a mix of excitement and anxiety, but trust in your ability to navigate the unknown. Reflect on the past year’s challenges and use them to inform your approach for the year ahead. Don’t hesitate to seek support from colleagues and loved ones—asking for help is a strength, not a weakness. Set clear boundaries and goals that resonate with your personal and professional values. Above all, take care of yourself. Your well-being is the cornerstone of your success in both the classroom and beyond. Embrace this new season with confidence, knowing that you have the skills and resilience to make it a great year.

As always, be well, do well.
